Project overview
This project formed part of a multi-million-pound investment programme to modernise and future proof the office facilities for places for People. The works was successfully completed by Claremont Interiors with Mollington Contracts Ltd appointed as the civil engineering and groundworks subcontractor.
Building on a strong working relationship with Claremont and a proven track record across national projects, Mollington Contracts were invited to tender. Following comprehensive pre-order meetings to establish best practice, construction methodology and whole of life cost consideration, Mollington Contracts was awarded the package has best value bidder.
Scope of works
Mollington contracts delivered a broad range of civils and groundworks services including:
- Installation of over 100m of electrical and communication ducting across car park and landscape areas, including provision for future expansion of the EV Charging system.
- Creation of six additional car parking bays, including the Formation of external vehicle barrier island.
- Removal and reconstruction of a large flagged social area including infrastructure for pods and seating areas.
- Construction of concrete bases for electrical supply kiosks and air source heat pump (ASHP) systems
- Internal structural modifications including breaking out brickwork for new doorways and HVAC systems, with the installation of steel and concrete lintels.
- Enabling works to support wider office refurbishment activities. Including external drainage alterations.
Mollington Contracts undertook detailed pre-construction planning to ensure the smooth execution of the works.
- Development of a comprehensive ducting installation methodology.
- Early procurement and confirmation of material lead times to ensure continuity
- Preparation of Risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
- Off-site material storage planning to minimise COSHH and environmental related risks.
- Maximisation of waste recycling opportunities.
- Creation of a detailed programme of works identifying critical path activity.
Refurbishment-type civil engineering and groundworks projects are inherently high-risk due to the intensive nature of the activities involved.
